May 2021 (Athens, GA). Coldwell Banker Commercial Upchurch Realty hosted its inaugural Regional Economic Forum on Thursday, May 6, 2021.

This event was hosted at the Athens Country Club on Thursday morning from 9:30 – 11:30. The event invitation was delivered to local attorneys, bankers, commissioners, lenders and several community members that would benefit from the regional information being shared. Over 60 attendees were present to hear the economic updates from community leaders in Athens-Clarke, Barrow, Jackson, Madison and Oconee counties. The focus of each panelist’s presentation was on the economic impact of COVID-19 throughout 2020, and the vision of growth and restoration each county has for 2021. The five guest panelists were Kelly Girtz, Mayor of Athens-Clarke County; Lisa Maloof, Director of Economic Development for Barrow County; Jim Shaw, President and CEO of Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce; Todd Higdon, Chairman of Madison County Board of Commissioners; and John Daniell, Chairman of Oconee County Board of Commissioners.

“After attending similar events of this nature hosted by Georgia Power, I was inspired to create a reason to bring commercial real estate industry affiliates together to hear about the economic growth happening in our Greater Athens Area market and surrounding counties. And I believe this event did just that,” said Charlie Upchurch, President and Broker of Coldwell Banker Commercial Upchurch Realty. “Our guest panelists each delivered insightful updates on their respective county and this was an excellent opportunity to network with our community leaders. I am very pleased with the turnout of this event and truly hope that we can continue to host one every year.”
